WHO DEY! The Bengals are going to the Super Bowl!

WHO DEY! WE ARE GOING TO THE SUPER BOWL!

It has been a LONG time since we’ve had this much excitement around a football season here in Cincinnati!

There was no way we were not going to celebrate and to do it with those we serve is the best way we know!

WHAT’S PLANNED:

We have a Cincinnati crew and a LA crew and we are all coming out in our orange and black with cookies and cheer.

IN LA:

What better way to show up and say “WE APPRECIATE YOU!” than with something special from your hometown? So with this, we are sending (4) of our trusted volunteers to Los Angeles to say just this! Once there, they will prepare deliveries and distribute almost 700 Busken Bakery Bengal cookies to first responders in the SoFi Stadium area.

Whether it is those working the Command Centers, the streets, or those manning the stations, we plan to distribute Cincinnati goodness with Bengal flare! Toss in some pom poms and lots of smiles, we have no doubt this will be a trip these volunteers will never forget.

BACK HOME IN CINCY:

For our team of volunteers here in the Greater Cincinnati area, we plan to visit various police departments and fire stations to take them their own bit of sweet appreciation with over 950 additional cookies. We are not forgetting our veterans and also plan cookie deliveries to The Fisher House and VA Medical Center in Cincinnati. Those at The Fisher House will also get some finger foods and drinks to ensure they can take in the fun excitement of this time in our city.

HOW THIS IS POSSIBLE:

We rely on and appreciate greatly our volunteers and donors. It is because of those in our communities that care so much that we are able to continue the work we have been doing since our start in 2014 under the original name (and now official OKC project) Cookies for a Cop and our Fire Friends.

If you wish to contribute, you may do so on our DONATE PAGE HERE.

LEARN MORE ABOUT US:

We started in December 2014 with an idea to uplift and with 2.5 weeks to plan, we were able to deliver over 30,000 cookies to first responders in an amazing show of appreciation. We thought this was a one time event but we were wrong. Here we are almost 800,000 cookies later and we:

    • have leaders all across the country to recognize and appreciate their local heroes.
    • have representation in Germany to deliver to our service members there.
    • have taken a Cookie Caravan on an amazing 21-hour round trip marathon to Chicago to deliver 21,000 cookies to the men and women of Chicago PD and FD.
    • have now hosted (2) completely sponsored golf outings – allowing local first responders a day of fun and friendship – without charge thanks to those in their communties.
    • have delivered to veterans at the VA Medical Center in Cincinnati.
    • have now picked up The Fisher House to support our veterans facing medical treatment.
    • will be delivering for those partaking in Honor Flights leaving from Cincinnati starting this year (2022).
    • made it all official and became a registered non-profit on World Kindness Day, November 13, 2022 under the name One Kind Cookie!

2nd Annual Fore The Badges

2nd Annual Fore The Badges

2ND ANNUAL FORE THE BADGES

We hosted our 2nd Annual Fore The Badges golf outing on October 7, 2021. This event is unlike others though and that makes us love it even more.

Corporate and individual sponsors from across the tri-state come together to help us provide a completely sponsored day of fun for our invited First Responders. Golf, food, drinks, and prizes are all included with each invitation.

In 2020 we hosted 112 but upped that number to 120 golfers in 2021 from 47 area departments!

We again thank our amazing sponsors. Without them, this event would not be possible.

A Note for Those We Serve

A Note for Those We Serve

Dear law enforcement officers, firefighters, dispatchers, and support staff for each,

If you are reading this, then you have heard what thousands of us are up to, ONCE AGAIN!

In December 2014, our founder had the idea to send a few dozen cookies to a single sheriff’s office in the Northern Kentucky area. This idea came following the increasing frustrations from the negative news coverage that seemed to never end. In just 2.5 weeks, we were able to take this single idea for a single department and expand to deliver 30,000 cookies to 220 departments in 24 states on December 22nd (and the week of). This campaign was such a huge hit that we turned it into an annual event (now held in October) as a way to flood departments across the US with kindness, something so easily lost in society these days. We have continued this campaign of kindness each year and in 2019, we surpassed 625,000 cookies served since our start!

Our founder’s roots come on the fire side of this coin. Born into the fire family, she grew up visiting her father at the firehouse surrounded by the extended family that comes with such a profession. Now grown, her brothers have also taken the path of civil service with the City of Cincinnati; one as a firefighter and the other as a police officer. While this started as a “for Cops” idea, adding RED to the mix only seemed to be the obvious progression and a natural fit to officially include our friends in red with campaign #3 (and beyond).

Let’s review a few bullet points for you as we prep for the October 2019 campaign:

  • Our deliveries will take place in mid-October each year.
  • Every leader must show ID. You may personally know your leader – this is a bonus. Because some of our leaders have opted to expand out more, you may not know the leader who may be related to an officer or firefighter in a neighboring community. We have asked our leaders to let you know their connection to law enforcement and / or firefighting and answer any questions you may have for them. Our leaders are to invite you to keep a copy of their ID for your records.
  • Every delivery will have a campaign specific label attached to indicate that it is a part of this project and that you are a part of something so much larger than that delivery of treats. You will also receive a delivery letter which has room for your leader’s name and contact information. This leader name should match the name on the ID presented.
  • Our leader list will give first name, last initial (for security and privacy reasons we have opted for initial only).
  • We invite you to check out some of our media coverage and to check out our social media platforms:

Being family (and knowing so many others in these professions), you can be assured that we understand some concerns that may come with this type of campaign.

In order to best protect those who protect us, we’ve worked hard to reach out to other family members and dear friends that we know appreciate the current times and the hardships / challenges of your profession.  We feel we have connected with trusted friends and trusted friends of those friends.  Most of our leaders are family members themselves (wives, parents, siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins).

  • Each leader who delivers in our name must show on our Leader List. Only those listed have been approved via a direct email (from an official work email address) by someone in your profession OR have been approved by an already approved leader who personally vouches for this trusted source.
  • Each leader should show on our website as an approved leader.
  • Each leader should also provide the information noted above (letter and ID with delivery) so you know exactly who is in front of you, bringing this kindness.

In the end, we can appreciate if this is not a campaign you feel comfortable bringing into your “home”. If that is the case when a leader reaches out to include your “family”, please be open with us so we can see if other arrangements can be made to make sure your men and women are included in some way of thanks from those in their communities.

We appreciate each of you and hope that this small gesture from so many brings a smile to your face and lifts your spirits. We hope to make this a beacon of support that is seen around the country.

Love and compassion are contagious.
Lead the way. Inspire others.

For Children Fighting Cancer

For Children Fighting Cancer

Inspired by the work our founders were out doing, Nick and Brittany Smith of Smile for Brooklyn decided to team up in an effort to spread smiles and awareness for their non-profit.

Following their daughter Brooklyn’s diagnosis of DIPG (Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma, an inoperable pediatric brain cancer) the Smith’s prepared for the battle ahead. On April 27th, 2017, Brooklyn Smith’s battle came to an end.

As a part of their mission to spread awareness, the Smiths and the team of Smile for Brooklyn decided to join forces in delivering cookies. Not only did one SMILE cookie go in the box of every delivery that left the Cookies for a Cop HQ event, they also delivered smiles to the children at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital and Medical Center (CCHMC) receiving treatment. We were blessed to be able to join them for this first delivery.

The following year, the Smiths and Smile for Brooklyn delivered not only to CCHMC but also to Children’s Hospital in Lexington, KY.

We seek to take this expense off the organization and cover the funds needed to allow them to continue to do this. We then seek to expand this in Brooklyn’s memory and allow for other families who have children to do the same. During such a dark, hard time, let’s give these children a reason to smile and give the families who have suffered, a way to give back and remember their loved ones.
